I write to report that our neighborhood kitty, Buttons, has passed away from being hit by a vehicle on very busy Union Street in Bangor. I wish to thank, however, the person driving that vehicle for at least moving Buttons’ body onto the lawn area in front of my house.
Buttons was not my cat, but he was a few of us neighbors’ cat who strolled to our houses for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He was owned but preferred to be outside most of the time and enjoyed his feedings and being petted by those who loved him. I will miss Buttons. And I feel as sad for the disappearing kitties in the Fairmount neighborhood as I do for Buttons.
Outside is no place for cats. They can’t survive wild animals, wild people or multi-ton vehicles. Keep them indoors.
