BANGOR — More than 100 golfers spent a great day at Bangor Municipal Golf Course on Aug. 26 to support the Summer Classic Fore Maine Kids Golf Tournament, a fundraiser that helps ensure the highest-quality care remains available for pediatric patients at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
Event sponsors included Bangor Savings Bank, the tournament’s presenting sponsor and Optum, the lead sponsor, among many others who helped to make the tournament a success. Also many thanks to Bangor Muni for continuing to host the annual event.
“Kids are just not small adults. As they get older and grow, they require different sizes of equipment, and the funds raised at events like the Summer Classic Fore Maine Kids, ensures that we have the resources needed to care for kids of all ages,” said Mikele Neal, RN, associate vice president for Women’s, and Children’s Services at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. “Just as important, the money raised also helps to buy a few special extras to brighten a child’s stay at the hospital.”
Tournament proceeds help to purchase life-saving therapies and highly specialized medical equipment, fund advanced training for staff, research, assistance for families who weren’t anticipating a hospital stay, and some fun extras to make a child’s stay a little more comfortable. Every dollar raised will help kids get back to the business of being kids!
Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is a proud member of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and since 1987, the program has raised more than $10 million to support our children’s services.
