Labor Day is Monday, and a number of offices and businesses will be closed across Maine.
Most grocery stores and other retailers will be open, but you should check specific locations for any change in hours.
Here’s what’s closed on Monday.
State offices
State of Maine government offices will be closed on Monday, including all courts and administrative offices. The exception is the Maine Department of Health and Human Services Office of Child Services, which operates its intake services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
According to the Department of Labor, weekly unemployment claims will be processed on Tuesday, and payments may take longer to arrive.
City and town halls
Maine government offices, including local government offices, will be closed on Monday. This includes city and town halls. Some town offices will be closed during the following week to allow workers to prepare for the upcoming election. Town services such as trash pickup or dropoff may be impacted, so make sure to check your local announcements.
