Olivia Breen, the Oceanside middle schooler with scholarship offers from Boston College and Providence College, is shipping off to Montverde Academy in Florida to play basketball at the next level.
Breen is following in the footsteps of Cooper and Ace Flagg, who transferred to Montverde from Nokomis Regional prior to their sophomore years of high school.
“New Chapter,” Breen announced in an Instagram post of her wearing an Eagle uniform.
The 6-foot-2, 13-year-old lives in South Thomaston, and comes from a basketball family like the Flaggs. Both of her parents played basketball at Husson University, and older sister Bailey is entering her senior year at Oceanside as a two-time Class B state champion and three-time BDN All-Mainer.
Montverde is a prep school serving grades K-12, with a prestigious high school athletics program. The Eagles’ girls basketball team has won three straight girls basketball national championships, and Cooper Flagg led the boys basketball team to a national title this April.
Breen is a rising eighth grader, and it remains unclear if she will be transferring immediately or after this academic year. Montverde offers middle school basketball in addition to its high school programs.
