A Waterville man was arrested Tuesday at Bangor’s largest homeless encampment.
Aaron Coker, 36, was charged with two counts of drug possession, aggravated drug trafficking and violating his probation, according to Sgt. Jason McAmbley, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.
Coker was a passenger in a vehicle police stopped on Tuesday for a traffic violation, McAmbley said Wednesday, and he allegedly declined to identify himself.
The officer identified Coker by a mugshot after the stop, and police caught up to the vehicle as it entered the encampment, known as Camp Hope and Tent City.
Coker was arrested on an outstanding warrant. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where officers found drugs on him, prompting the additional charges, according to McAmbley.
No additional information was immediately available.
