But Hartwick College scored the next 62 points and triumphed 62-6.
Quarterback James Sobol threw three touchdown passes, two to Carlito Aldamuy for 44 and 50 yards and a 50-yarder to Haven Marascio.
Alik Williams rushed for TDs of one and 26 yards.
Owen Lawler and Michael Vurchio returned interceptions of 78 and 39 yards, respectively.
Conor Cosgrove caught a 54-yard TD pass from Shane Baxter and Nicholas Massaregli scored on a 20-yard run.
Sobol completed just seven of 24 passes and was intercepted four times, but he did throw three TD passes.
Aldaumy caught three passes for 127 yards and Marascio had three for 76 yards. Carlvin McDonald rushed for 100 yards on 20 carries. Massaregli had 64 on four carries.
Kaden Cadorette had a game-high seven catches for 52 yards and Thomas Jackson had four for 20.
Abbott completed 15 of 30 passes for 136 yards. He threw a touchdown pass and was intercepted four times.
MMA’s Matt Gagin and Hartwick’s Ben Kirkland had a game-high 10 tackles apiece.
MMA’s Lucas Houghton and James-Boyer Russell and Hartwick’s Vurchio each had two interceptions.
