I recently read Miles Bergquist’s WGME story, “Strains of cannabis sold in Maine recalled for failing ‘yeast and mold test.’” This piece made me heavily question the safety of cannabis, which can be bought at dispensaries.
I have my medical marijuana card as I am too young to purchase recreational cannabis. Every dispensary I have been to in Maine promises that its product is safe and has been tested for any harmful solvents. However, I think this article shows that some of these tests are not accurate as numerous dispensaries across the state had to recall strands for failing mold and yeast tests.
Cannabis Cured has branches throughout Maine, and it was reportedly caught selling weed that failed the general safety tests. Due to this, I think new testing should be created to assure that all cannabis sold from dispensaries is safe and will not cause the user to get severely ill.
