A 17-year-old Augusta boy riding a moped died Tuesday after a pickup hit him in the capital city.
The teen was riding the moped on Civic Drive about 3:15 p.m. when he turned to enter the parking lot of the Rusty Lantern, a convenience store, according to the Kennebec Journal.
As he turned to cross the southbound lane and enter the parking lot, he was hit by a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 47-year-old Benjamin Perry of Farmingdale, the Journal reported.
Perry wasn’t injured, but the teen was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police haven’t released the teen’s identity.
The crash remains under investigation.
