The Knox County administrator, Richard “Lance” Govang, has agreed to resign after commissioners initially moved to fire him last month, according to the Midcoast Villager.
Under a settlement agreement that commissioners unanimously approved Thursday, Richard “Lance” Govang submitted a resignation that took effect immediately and through which he’ll receive $38,500 in addition to any accrued vacation time, the Villager reported. He had started the job just last May.
The commission had started the process of firing Govang in August for what it described as an “unnecessarily harsh and heavy-handed management style.”
The agreement waives any claims Govang may have against the commission, which will begin searching for a new administrator soon, according to the Villager.
