An 11-year-old has been charged after a “suspicious device” was found on a Maine school bus on Thursday.
The sixth-grader, whose identity hasn’t been released, was charged with terrorizing, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
A “suspicious device” was found on an SAD 15 school bus while it carried a mix of middle and high school students on Ricker Road in New Gloucester about 2:51 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.
The 15 students were removed from the bus and brought to a nearby location, where they could be reunited with their parents.
During the investigation, the 11-year-old was identified as a suspect, and the device was later found at his home, the sheriff’s office said Friday morning. It was not an explosive device.
The child was eventually released back into the custody of his parents.
