BREWER — As we move from summer into the fall and winter seasons, it is important to protect yourself from respiratory illnesses like COVID-19, RSV, and influenza (flu).
One of the best ways to stay healthy is to make sure you are protected through vaccination. It is recommended to get your flu shot in September or October, which is considered the beginning of flu season, but getting it after that time is better than not getting vaccinated at all. Northern Light Health is offering flu shots on an ongoing basis at our pharmacies and primary care practices.
While the flu season is predicted to be average, according to Matt Marston, PharmD, Northern Light Health vice president and chief pharmacy officer, “People should remain vigilant through proper hand hygiene, getting plenty of rest and staying hydrated, exercising to keep one’s immune system strong, and getting their flu shot. The CDC warns that, while rare, influenza can cause significant illness, hospitalization, and even death, particularly among older adults, very young children, pregnant women, and those with certain chronic medical conditions.”
Please schedule a time to get your flu shot with your primary care provider, or use the easy Northern Light Pharmacy flu shot scheduler (nlpharmacy.ourscheduling.com/1140/doctors) for appointments at any one of the Northern Light Pharmacy locations. Flu shots are normally covered by insurance. Also, if you need a COVID-19 booster you can get it at the same time.
