The two recent mass shootings in Georgia and Kentucky as well as the second attempt on Donald Trump’s life and the many other mass shootings signal a national crisis and epidemic of intolerable proportion, which I believe is allowed by agenda-driven gun-promoting organizations and others who wrongly believe that the Second Amendment gives them the right to purchase guns for any purpose. For those who don’t know, or don’t want to know, the Second Amendment was created for us to defend our nation against British intervention.
The yellow flag law is supposed to be a solution but failed miserably to keep our citizens safe.
Additionally, I believe that assault rifles are weapons of war, and they were used in most recent mass killings including the Lewiston tragedy. They should be banned from private ownership, manufacture, sale and import as well as eliminating bump stocks and any other devices that will make them automatic.
Further, the utmost responsibility of our powers that be is to keep our citizens safe. It is not enough to say, “If you see something, say something,” but rather, “If you see something, do something.”
It is well past the time for our leaders to act prudently and do the right thing. Bottom line: Beware of any candidate for elective office that earns an A rating from the NRA.
