A Searsport man working as a traffic flagger during a paving job on Route 1 in Orland was struck and killed by a motorist Tuesday morning.
Charles Resh, 24, was directing eastbound traffic in the westbound lane of the highway when he was struck, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department said. Clint Clagett, 70, of Bucksport was driving a black 2009 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound when he collided with Resh, police said.
Resh was taken by ambulance to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital in Ellsworth, where he died from his injuries, the sheriff’s department said.
Clagett was uninjured in the crash, police said. Maine State Police are reconstructing how it happened.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no further details were being released Tuesday afternoon, the sheriff’s department said.
