YARMOUTH — Yarmouth is a town with a rich history of volunteerism and community engagement, cherished qualities that have created a welcoming environment for residents and tourists alike.
“The town motto is ‘Our Latchstring Always Out’ which celebrates the citizenship and leadership that keeps Yarmouth a warm and inviting community of caring individuals,” said Maria Edwards, branch manager VP for the Norway Savings Bank branch in Yarmouth.
Fittingly, it was the town motto that served as the branch’s theme for its 15th anniversary celebration during the week of Aug. 26.
Through special events, games, refreshments, and giveaways, the Yarmouth branch welcomed customers and community members for a week of commemorating not only the day the branch opened in 2009, but also the indelible spirit that has defined the town since its inception in 1849.
“We were thrilled to donate $2,024 to five local nonprofits in our area in celebration of our anniversary and the amazing relationships we’ve built over the years and the new customer relationships we start each day,” said Edwards. “It’s a wonderful place and NSB is happy to be firmly entrenched in the Yarmouth community.”
Customers were invited to vote for their favorite local nonprofit during the week, and the seven nonprofits benefiting are: Yarmouth Fire & Rescue, Rotary Club of Yarmouth, Yarmouth Lions Club, North Yarmouth Historical Society, Yarmouth Historical Society, Recompense Fund, and the Yarmouth Lacrosse Boosters.
In addition to the celebration in Yarmouth, Norway Savings also four other branch anniversaries this summer: South Paris (40th), Forest Avenue in Portland (10th), Bridgton (55th), and Gray (10th).
