U.S. Rep. Jared Golden and state Rep. Austin Theriault, R-Fort Kent, are squaring off Thursday night for their first debate in a nationally watched 2nd Congressional District race.
Golden, a Democrat and Marine veteran who first won election to Congress in 2018, and Theriault, a former NASCAR driver who has served one term in the Maine House of Representatives, will meet for the first of three debates ahead of the Nov. 5 election.
The Bangor Daily News and CBS 13 are hosting Thursday’s debate.

The debate begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, with live streams available at bangordailynews.com and wgme.com. Television viewers in CBS 13’s coverage area can find the debate on channel 13.
When are the other debates?
Two other televised debates ahead of the November election are scheduled for next week.
The Maine State Chamber of Commerce and News Center Maine will host a debate Monday. In the Bangor and northern Maine markets, WABI and WAGM will host the final one Wednesday.
