LISBON, (WGME) — Superintendent Richard Green says all Lisbon High School football activities have been suspended pending further investigation into hazing allegations.
On Thursday police said they are investigating an alleged recent hazing incident.
Police have not released specific details about what the alleged hazing incident entailed or if anyone is facing charges.
“Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation and juveniles being involved, we are unable to provide further details at this time,” Lisbon Police Chief Ryan McGee said.
Parents of football players in Lisbon are upset.
They say some players only found out about the program’s suspension an hour before a bus was supposed to take them to their game at Mountain Valley in Rumford on Friday.
Parents say their kids were abandoned, and there was no support for their kids when they were told their season had been canceled with no further explanation.
“As parents we’re really frustrated with the way the administration handled this. [In] the lack of communication, in the lack of support, to coaches, to us as parents, in our program as a whole,” Michelle Barker, a parent, said.
