Hackers defaced Lego’s website on October 4, 2024, replacing the banner with an ad for the Lego Coin, which was a fake cryptocurrency. Through this ad, visitors were invited to purchase the token which does not exist, and in addition to it, they’d get more secret ‘ Lego token’ perks if they accessed it. One click led to another fake site with ‘Lego tokens’ for sale. Lego immediately deleted the malware content and assured its customers that no one’s personal accounts were hacked. The company was in the process of thinking about how it would be possible to avoid such incidents in future and asked its clients to be very careful while using the sites.
