Tia Mowry is sharing an update on where she stands with her twin sister Tamera after making headlines for confessing she wishes they “were still close.”
The Sister Sister actress provided more context to their relationship status in a preview clip for the Friday, October 11 episode of Entertainment Tonight that was shared via Instagram Stories ahead of its airing.
“She’s just not as accessible, but I literally just talked to her yesterday,” Tia, 46, said in the footage.
Tia added that the demands of Tamera’s immediate family meant that her twin didn’t have as much time to spare as she used to.

“She is a mother, her children need her,” Tia said. “She is also a wife. Her husband needs her. She’s in a different place in her life, she wants to do her thing and I’m doing my thing.”
In September, a trailer dropped for Tia’s We TV docuseries Tia Mowry: My Next Act which will follow Tia’s life after her divorce from Cory Hardrict, with whom she shares son Cree, 13, and daughter Cairo, 6.
The teaser clip featured Tia saying she wished she and Tamera, 46, “were still close” — a line that subsequently made headlines.
“[I wish] I could pick up the phone and call her, but that’s just not where we are right now,” she said.
Speaking to Us Weekly three days later, Tia insisted her comments were taken out of context and clarified that her relationship with her sister was good. She explained that her remarks referred to the physical distance between them and how that was affecting them.
“You could hear it from me, and this is basically what I was insinuating: I feel like as we grow up, we all start our own families and their children need to lean on them. We begin to take on new roles and responsibilities within our lives,” Tia told Us. “That is what that was all about.”
Tia further explained that while she and some of her relatives — including brother Tahj Mowry and father Timothy Mowry — live in Los Angeles, Tamera lives in Napa with her husband, Adam Housley, and kids Aden, 11, and Ariah, 9. The twins’ other brother, Tavior Mowry, lives in Tennessee.
‘Sister, Sister’ Cast: Where Are They Now?
“In these transitions in life, sometimes you just want a hug and you just want someone to be as accessible as they used to be, and that is not the case,” she said. “It’s called life.”
Tia added that while she and her sister may be physically separated, that doesn’t change the way she feels about her twin.
“I love my sister very much. She loves me very much,” Tia said. “We have a closeness and a beautiful connection. But that’s what that was all about. It’s just how life unfolds, and it happens with many families.”
