Brady Creamer drove 200 miles one way from his home in Fredericton, New Brunswick to Hermon to run in the annual Ikey Dorr (Memorial) 100-lap Street Stock feature at Speedway 95 on Saturday.
And he pocketed plenty of gas money for the trip home as he survived several cautions caused by a ton of wrecks to win the race and earn the $10,000 winner’s check.
Creamer had finished third in last year’s race,
Just 18 of the 36 cars that started the race finished it and only a handful were on the lead lap when they waved the checkered flag.
Mac Hannan of Washington, Maine was second and rounding out the top five were Clinton’s Ryan Robinson, Hudson’s Donny Silva and Shane Tatro of Levant.
Jimmy Childs of Leeds was sixth and completing the top ten were Kris Watson of Kenduskeag, Joey Israelson of Saco, Tyler Jordan of Gorham and Billy Childs of Leeds.
The Dorr race honors the life of the Wiscasset native and Addison resident who died of an apparent heart attack he suffered during a race at Speedway 95 in 2009. He was 56 years old.
In Saturday’s Cagerunner feature, Horace Crawford of Troy posted the win followed by Hampden’s Erik Worster, Bangor’s Derek Smith, Silva and Casey Bellows from Fairfield, who was last year’s winner. There were 18 cars entered and 12 finished.
Talon Blanchard of Glenburn was sixth and the rest of the top ten was composed of Bangor’s Craig Holm, Eddington’s Corey Swoboda, Mars Hill’s Alan Rideout and Caribou’s Nate Haney.
