Election Day is only a few weeks away, and Mainers will be voting on who will represent them for local, state and national offices, along with statewide referendum questions.
To help better inform voters, Bangor Daily News political editor Michael Shepherd will answer questions next week about the election in an Ask Me Anything on the Maine Reddit forum, set for 6 p.m. Tuesday.
For those unfamiliar with messageboard-based social network Reddit, an Ask Me Anything, or AMA, is an open forum on a specific topic, in which an individual or group answers questions posed by any Reddit user at a pre-arranged time. AMAs have been hosted by everyone from presidents and celebrities to everyday people with experience in a variety of topics.
This will be the first AMA held by the BDN, and it will be hosted on r/Maine, a Reddit forum with more than 100,000 members.
To participate, you must have a Reddit account or sign up for one before questions open on Monday. Shepherd will begin responding to questions at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
This forum is about Maine elections, including candidates for U.S. House and Senate, state and local candidates for the legislature and municipalities, referendums and ranked-choice voting. It is not about the presidential race or about other national issues, and questions about those topics will not be answered. Participants must follow the posting rules on the Maine Reddit, which includes no hate speech, misinformation or spam.
We look forward to your questions and to a productive and informative forum.
