ELLSWORTH – Heart of Ellsworth is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $200,000 grant from the Maine Office of Tourism as part of the Tourism Marketing & Development Recovery Program. This program, supported by $2 million in funding from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, aims to bolster Maine’s travel and tourism industry following the economic challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The grant will enable Heart of Ellsworth to enhance its marketing efforts, promoting the region as a vibrant destination for visitors. This funding comes at a crucial time, allowing us to expand outreach initiatives and develop new tourism assets that will benefit our community for years to come.
“We are deeply honored to receive this grant from the Maine Office of Tourism,” said Cara Romano, executive director of Heart of Ellsworth. “This funding will play a pivotal role in establishing downtown Ellsworth as a distinct destination within Maine. Whether visitors explore the Bold Coast, Schoodic Peninsula, or the Blue Hill/ Deer Isle region, Ellsworth will be the ideal hub to stay and embark on day trips, maximizing a genuine Maine visitor experience.”
The Tourism Marketing & Development Recovery Program focuses on supporting projects with long-term transformative impacts, reaching diverse communities of visitors, and enhancing Maine’s tourism assets. All funded projects are slated for completion by September 2025.
