Jay Cutler is trying to move forward following his recent DUI arrest.
“Jay is acting like everything is normal,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. “He’s not letting the arrest and DUI get to him.”
Us confirmed that Cutler, 41, was charged with driving under the influence on Thursday, October 17, and booked at the Williamson County Jail in Franklin, Tennessee. He was also charged with failure to exercise due care, violation of implied consent law and possession of a handgun while under the influence.
According to docs obtained by Us, the retired football player allegedly tried to flee the scene after he rear-ended another car. The docs also claimed that Cutler offered the other driver involved in the alleged collision $2,000 to “not call the police.”
Jay Cutler’s Biggest Controversies Through the Years
The authorities ultimately arrived at the scene shortly later. Police examined the cars to inspect for damage. Cutler ultimately denied being in a car accident. No damage was found to Cutler’s truck, but the docs noted that there was a “winch in the front.” The other vehicle did have a “small dent” on the rear end.
Cutler’s car was also searched by the authorities. Police found a “rifle” in the back seat and a “loaded Glock handgun” in the center console.
The arresting officer spoke to Cutler and noticed that the former quarterback was “staggering, swaying and heavy-footed while walking” while also having “bloodshot, glassy, red/pink, watery and dilated” eyes.
Cutler refused a field sobriety test and was taken to a hospital to have a blood sample taken. He was booked at the Williamson County Jail in Nashville. Hours later, he posted bond and was released.
Cutler has not publicly addressed his arrest, Us has reached out for comment.
Kristin Cavallari Reveals ‘Split Custody’ With Ex Jay Cutler Has ‘Changed’
Before his arrest, Cutler shared that he went on a hunting trip to Kentucky. The excursion was shared on Cutler’s apparel and lifestyle brand Outsider’s page. Cutler was tracking a specific deer that’s been on his radar for a long time.
“The weather dropped a little bit, the temperature, pressure was high and the deer that I’ve been hunting had been showing up the last two evenings,” the athlete said in the Instagram clip on Wednesday, October 16. “We figured with the temperature dropping we might come out a little bit earlier.”
In addition to being a hunting enthusiast, the former Chicago Bears player was also married to Kristin Cavallari from 2013 to 2020. The exes are parents to sons Camden and Jaxson and daughter Saylor. They share joint custody of all three children.
