Skeletal remains have been found in Jay.
Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety, confirmed Sunday morning that the Maine State Police is assisting the Jay Police Department with its investigation.
Moss said in an email that the remains are “possibly human,” but the Maine medical examiner’s office hasn’t confirmed that yet.
CBS affiliate WGME reported that the remains were discovered Saturday. It’s not clear where the remains were found.
The Jay Police Department couldn’t be immediately reached Sunday morning for more details.
