In its third season, the Underground Lounge is Belfast’s DIY community music series, known for its cozy atmosphere and commitment to showcasing a diverse range of artists. Located in the basement of the Basil Burwell Community Theatre the lounge gets transformed before each show, becoming an intimate, unpretentious space with couches, cafe tables, and mismatched chairs. Beverages and homemade baked goods from the small open kitchen round out the welcoming coffee shop atmosphere. As its name suggests, the Underground Lounge operates a bit off the radar. It is a purely volunteer-led group, interested in bringing people together through the long Maine off-season. Tickets are $10 (cash only) at the door. All of the proceeds, after rent and expenses, go to the artists performing.
