Baby’s first red carpet!
Pregnant Jennifer Lawrence hit the red carpet Wednesday, October 23, for the 2024 AFI Fest premiere of a new reproductive rights documentary, Zurawski v Texas, in Los Angeles.
The Oscar winner showed off her growing baby bump in a sleek off-the-shoulder white buttoned dress. Lawrence, 34, accentuated her bump by tying a belt above her growing stomach.
The red carpet appearance marks Lawrence’s first since Us Weekly confirmed on Sunday, October 20, that she and her husband Cooke Maroney are expecting baby No. 2. The couple have been married since 2019 and share a son, Cy, 2.
The No Hard Feelings star sparked pregnancy speculation after she flashed her bump while out to dinner in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 19. Vogue was first to report the news.
Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney’s Relationship Timeline
Us previously confirmed Lawrence and Maroney were mulling baby No. 2.
“They’re thinking about having another child,” a source told Us in June 2023. “At first they weren’t sure if they wanted another one because it’s so much work, but they’re obsessed with Cy and love showing off videos to their friends and family. They’ve started warming up to the possibility of a second.”
Lawrence previously opened up about feeling protective over her first pregnancy while speaking with Cameron Diaz for Interview Magazine in June 2023.
“I was so nervous when I was pregnant. I was getting paparazzi’d, and I was just like, ‘How the f–k am I not going to lose it on these guys when they’re taking a picture of my baby?’” she explained. “Then once he was here, I realized that my energy is more important to him than anything else. So if he feels that I’m anxious before I leave the house, or I’m angry when we’re outside, that’s going to impact him.”
Lawrence continued, “So it’s actually done the opposite, where I’ve gotten a little bit more zen and a little bit more relaxed with getting photographed because I don’t have a choice. You just have to accept it, and take a deep breath, and walk. I don’t want him to inherit the anxiety and anger that I have.”
The Causeway and Don’t Look Up star also said she often contemplated leaving Hollywood after having her first child but found herself reading compelling new scripts.
Jennifer Lawrence Isn’t the Only ‘Hunger Games’ Star Who’s Become a Parent
“I think about dipping out a lot when I’m working,” Lawrence said. “I’m like, ‘I’m not going to be doing this forever. I’m tired. This is hard.’ Then you take a few months off, you read something terrific, and you’re like, ‘Oh, my God, I have to make this.’ So I don’t know if I can answer that question.”
“Of course, I’ve contemplated having a child that’s being born into a lifestyle that’s different from his friends,” Lawrence added. “But kids have advantages and disadvantages when they’re born, all of them. The best thing I can do is just make sure he knows he’s loved and that he’s our number one priority, and try to be a good example of kindness.”
