British singer Raye has said all her songwriting books have gone missing after her car was stolen.
The multi-Brit Award winner, whose real name is Rachel Keen, had been working on the follow-up to her debut album My 21st Century Blues, but said after the theft, the second record will not be coming “any time soon”.
Posting on Instagram, where she also shared photos of her 27th birthday celebrations, the singer wrote: “It’s my birthday and my car got stolen with all my song writing books in the boot so no second album any time soon love you bye.”
One of the photos then showed a cake with sprinkles and red icing that spelled out the words: “Sorry ur car got stolen” (sic).
Best known for hits like Escapism, Flip A Switch and Prada, Raye has been climbing her way through the ranks for many years.
Her debut album was nominated for the 2023 Mercury Prize and this year made history at the Brits for winning six awards – the most in a single year – including Album of the Year.
She has also lent her vocals to top-five hits by David Guetta and Jax Jones and has written lyrics for Beyonce and Rihanna.
Speaking to Sky News in 2023, the singer spoke candidly about the fight to make music on her own terms.
