BELFAST — The Underground Lounge (17 Court Street) is thrilled to welcome the dynamic sounds of Cilla Bonnie and her band for a deeply engaging evening of live music on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. The trio of performers features Cilla on bass and vocals, Emmett Harrity (Brooklin) on keys, and Chris Sweet (Portland) on drums. A celebrated performer, Bonnie leads the trio with her unique, soulful sound. She has built a strong following across New England over the years with her crushed-velvet vocals, powerful bass lines and ability to engage her audience.
Bonnie is a Maine-based bass player, singer and songwriter. Over the past 15 years she has performed, toured and recorded across the country. In 2020 she released her fourth recording project, “August,” and is gearing up to record her next full-length album next year. Bonnie’s music is a blend of R&B-inspired groove, edgy rock, and introspection. In addition to her solo work, she currently plays bass for the 2022 NPR Tiny Desk Contest Winner Alisa Amador and Boston-based soul artist Ali McGuirk. Check out Bonnie’s new work and follow her on Instagram @cillabonniemusic to keep up with her performances and upcoming projects.
The Underground Lounge is a DIY music series with a commitment to showcasing local and regional talent. Now in its third season, it is known for its cozy, unpretentious atmosphere. Located in the basement of the Basil Burwell Community Theatre, the Underground Lounge operates a bit off the radar. It is a purely volunteer-led group, interested in bringing people together through the long Maine off-season. Homemade baked goods and beverages will be available for purchase. Tickets are $10 (cash only) at the door. All of the proceeds, after rent and expenses, go to the performers.
