Job fair to add team members set for Thursday, Nov. 7
BANGOR – Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway is expanding its hours of operation on the gaming floor, starting January 1. To prepare for the additional hours of operation, Hollywood Casino is also adding team members. The expanded hours is one of the most immediate changes taking place under the tenure of new Vice President and General Manager Marc Guastella.
“My time in Bangor has already been exciting and eye opening,” said Guastella. “This community is so vibrant with amazing people leading the charge to make Eastern Maine such a wonderful place to live. Hollywood Casino has a long history of serving visitors from near and far, and listening to what they want. This is true in recent memory as we brought live poker back to our gaming floor for the first time in four years, and expanded the hours at Hops House 99 to serve customers seven days a week. We’ve heard a good number of people asking for expanded hours on our gaming floor, particularly so they have an opportunity to play after concerts, or before leaving our hotel at the tail end of a vacation, and we are listening to their requests. Because of that, starting with the new year, our gaming floor will be open daily from 8 a.m. until 2 a.m.”
To prepare for the expanded hours, Hollywood Casino is hosting a job fair to expand its workforce. People applying for non-licensed jobs at the job fair can be extended a conditional offer of employment, based on a favorable background check. Some positions will allow applicants to be in new employee orientation and earning money as soon as a week after the job fair. Benefits begin on day one for all full time team members at Hollywood Casino.
The job fair will also allow visitors to enroll in the next dealer school, a free 3-week course instructing those interested in working as table game dealers how to operate and lead all games properly. Attendees who successfully pass the class and final audition are eligible for a conditional offer of employment to become a part time dealer.
“These are good jobs for people who like to help visitors have an enjoyable experience,” said Guastella.
The job fair will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 in the Lancaster Room on the hotel side of Hollywood Casino.
Guastella started his role as the casino’s new vice president and general manager in early September. With more than 20 years of hospitality and gaming experience, Guastella was most recently the vice president & general manager at Hollywood Casino in Morgantown, a sister PENN Entertainment property.
In his new role, Guastella is overseeing all operations, focusing on driving growth, enhancing the customer experience, and optimizing operational efficiency, as well as ensuring Hollywood Casino Hotel and Raceway remains an important community partner and welcoming workplace.
While Guastella has a long professional history in the hospitality field, he began his relationship with PENN National in 2011 as director of food & beverage with Hollywood Casino in Toledo, Ohio. Prior to working with PENN he was also a general manager at several MGM International properties.
“I am excited to join the team at Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway and help lead this regional destination toward new and exciting opportunities,” said Guastella. “Maine’s vibrant culture and scenic beauty make this a special place to work, and I’m thrilled to contribute to Bangor’s entertainment scene. I look forward to elevating the city’s entertainment offerings and delivering unforgettable experiences for our guests.”
