ORONO — Ten Bucks Theatre Company is excited to once again partner with the University of Maine’s School of Performing Arts to present TBT’s 10th Annual 24-Hour New Play Festival!
Why do we keep doing this every year you ask? Because it’s sooooo much fun!
In a period of 24 hours, participants will write, rehearse, and perform a series of original (roughly) 10-minute plays.
The 24-Hour New Play Festival will take place in Minsky Recital Hall, located in the Class of 1944 Hall on the UMaine campus. Participants will meet on the evening of Friday, Nov. 8, be put into ‘draw from a hat’ groups, receive their role assignments (actor, writer or director) and attend workshops. The writers will then take their ideas home to compose a (approximately) 10-minute play, which they will bring back to Minsky on Saturday morning.
Actors, directors, writers and tech crew will then begin the job of bringing these “brand spanking new” shows to life for a 7 p.m. performance on Saturday, Nov. 9!
Participant registration is now open and ends Saturday, Nov. 2. There is a $10 registration fee that must be paid by check-in on Nov. 8. To register to participate in the 10th Annual 24-Hour New Play Festival or to access more information, FAQ’s, etc. please see the event on Ten Bucks Theatre’s Facebook page or at https://forms.gle/g4e17YCYfW6eHGWF9
Audience members, what do you do? Show up by 7 p.m. on Nov. 9 prepared to have a rollicking great time watching a bunch of new plays being brought into the world. Think ‘delivery room’ with absolutely no pain.
