A person who was left in critical condition after a fire consumed a Skowhegan home died on Friday.
The victim was taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan after escaping the burning Waterville Road house on Thursday afternoon, according to Maine Department of Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss. They were airlifted to Maine Medical Center later that evening.
The person, who is not being identified at this time, died at Maine Medical Center in Portland on Friday morning, according to Maine State Police Lt. Aaron M. Turcotte.
The Maine fire marshal’s office continues to investigate the blaze that broke out around 3:04 p.m. Thursday.
The victim’s identity will be released once an autopsy and DNA confirmation is completed by the Maine medical examiner’s office.
