Alexa PenaVega is silencing husband Carlos PenaVega’s critics after he declined to join his Big Time Rush bandmates on a recent song with rapper Lil Uzi Vert.
“Hey friends, I wanted to hop on here to address something. We work super hard to protect our values and the things we believe in especially when it comes to creating content that is mostly family-friendly or what one would consider ‘safe,’” Alexa, 36, wrote in a Friday, November 1, social media statement. “Today, a song was released that featured the BTR boys minus Carlos because it did not align with his values.”
She added, “While thankful for the opportunity, Carlos kindly passed.”
Carlos, 35, is a member of Big Time Rush alongside Kendall Schmidt, Logan Henderson and James Maslow. The group was initially formed for the Nickelodeon TV show of the same name, which ran from 2009 to 2013. The band reunited in 2020 and embarked on sold-out global tours.

Lil Uzi Vert, 29, released their new album Eternal Atake 2 on Friday, featuring the song “The Rush.” The track has Big Time Rush listed as a featured artist.
“Unfortunately it was not credited properly and is currently being represented as a BTR feature. Not a Kendall, Logan and James feature,” Alexa claimed on Friday. “As a wife who has watched Carlos navigate his values alone in an industry not set up for ‘family,’ I have been at times both incredibly proud and totally heartbroken for him.”
She concluded: “This is not putting anyone down. We just respectfully would like to make the people who follow us aware of the mishap and address that this was something he was not a part of. God Bless.”
While neither Lil Uzi Vert nor the remaining BTR singers have addressed the situation, Carlos is grateful for his wife’s support. (Us Weekly has reached out to Lil Uzi Vert for comment.)
“Love u my angel,” he wrote via Instagram Story on Friday, reposting Alexa’s message. “Thank you for always having my back.”
Alexa PenaVega Reveals There Was a Time She and Carlos Almost Broke Up
Carlos and the Spy Kids star have been married since 2014. They share sons Ocean, 7, and Kingston, 4, and daughter Rio, 2. The PenaVegas, who suffered a stillbirth with late daughter Indy in April, have been candid about their faith through the years.
Alexa previously told Us Weekly in December 2023 that “prayer has been a huge thing” for the couple, who first met at a bible study.
“Life gets tough. It’s really, really hard,” the actress told Us. “But taking that moment to just sit down and really kind of communicate. I know that sounds so cliche, but it’s true. It’s when we’re not communicating very well that we start to hit bumps in the road.”
