I read with interest Emily Burnham’s column in the Oct. 24 edition of the Bangor Daily News about the Chamberlain (“new”) Bridge and the “old bridge” just up river. When my wife and I blessedly moved to Maine in 1974, those were the two bridges connecting Bangor and Brewer.
In the fullness of time comes Interstate 395, creating a third bridge across the Penobscot. Eventually, the “old bridge” was replaced. So now here we are with: A) the “old,” “new” bridge; B) the “new,” “old” bridge; and C) and the new “new” bridge. Just wanted to clear that up.
