FREEPORT, Maine – The popular Gritty McDuff’s Brew Pub in Freeport will reportedly close after 30 years in business at the location.
According to the Press Herald, Gritty’s 30-year land lease will expire this year, and the owner was not able to buy the property.
Owner Ed Stebbins told the Press Herald the owners of the property told them it was not for sale so they had no choice but to close the Freeport business.
Gritty’s last day in Freeport will be Nov. 30. Gritty’s other locations in Portland and Auburn will remain open.
The Freeport closure will reportedly affect more than 20 staff members. Gritty’s has offered them jobs at the other two locations, according to thePress Herald.
