A hoax threat was called in to Bangor High School on Tuesday morning that prompted a secure hold on the campus, the Bangor School Department said.
There is no active threat, Sgt. Jason McAmbley of the Bangor Police Department said.
The call appears to be one of many such calls, often referred to as “swatting” calls, happening nationwide Tuesday, according to McAmbley and Bangor School Department spokesperson Ray Phinney.
Bangor High School received a phone call from a national crisis line at 10 a.m. reporting a person with a rifle on the school grounds, Phinney said.
The school immediately went into a secure hold. The Bangor Police Department searched the campus and found there was no threat, Phinney said.
The secure hold was lifted at 10:25 a.m.
“All students and staff are safe,” Phinney said.
