A road construction worker was injured after his vehicle was hit by a tractor trailer in the central Maine town of Newport on Tuesday afternoon.
Northeast Paving was placing cones on the southbound lanes on Interstate 95 for an upcoming paving project at about 2:15 p.m. when a tractor-trailer carrying recycled paper hit a construction vehicle, Maine State Police said in a news release.
A worker in the vehicle, 24-year-old Charles Miller of Enfield was thrown from the truck.
Miller’s injuries were not life-threatening, according to police. He was brought to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment. The driver of the tractor-trailer, 38-year-old Boureima Dicko of Allentown, Pennsylvania, employed by JT Freight Inc. of Des Plaines, Illinois, was not injured, police said.
