A high school and middle school in central Maine will be closed Thursday after school officials said a “concerning incident” was brought to their attention Wednesday afternoon.
Maranacook Community Middle School and Maranacook Community High School are next to each other in Readfield.
School officials are working with the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the incident, and they are closing the schools out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of students and staff.
All conferences, practices and meetings are also canceled.
