A Florida cruise company is offering a four-year escape to deep-pocketed Americans upset by the results of the Nov. 5 presidential election.
Shortly after the election, Villa Vie Residences announced the launch of its “Tour La Vie” program that allows clients to travel the world on its cruise ship for up to four years, visiting more than 425 ports in 140 countries.
The Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based company is offering four deals: 1-Year Escape from Reality, 2-Year Mid-Term Selection, 3-Year Everywhere but Home and 4-Year Skip Forward.
Prices start around $40,000 per person per year for the four-year option. Guests can join the cruise at most ports.
“If you’re looking for an escape … there is no better place than on a ship, right, where you can wake up every day to a new backyard and get everything you need taken care of,” said Mikael Petterson, the company’s founder and CEO.
Petterson said the company started working on the marketing campaign before the election. He suspects more Republicans would be looking to escape if the Democrats won.
The Villa Vie Odyssey ship can house up to 600 residents that include “digital nomads,” business owners, semi-retired and fully retired people, Petterson said.
