One person died in a crash in Waterville on Monday morning.
First responders were called to a crash on Trafton Road near the intersection of West River Road in Waterville at around 4:30 a.m., according to the Waterville Police Department.
The driver of a black Jeep Renegade had been traveling west on Trafton Road before losing control of the vehicle and leaving the roadway, according to Maj. Jason Longley.
The driver, who had been the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash, is not being identified at this time. Their body has been transported to the Maine medical examiner’s office, where an autopsy will be conducted.
It was not immediately clear if any other vehicles were involved in the crash. The circumstances remain under investigation.
