As America inches towards what I fear is a moment of no return and a place as dark as any human cares to tread, may history and the great sacrifices made by so many not so long ago, remind us how fragile and short-lived is the joy a child can feel during this or any upcoming holiday season.
To my fellow Americans who may — or may not — believe the sorrow, loss and fear their recent vote has cast upon the joy of so many fellow citizens, colleagues, friends and family: I ask only that you understand their doubt that those feelings were not inflicted intentionally upon them, and instead of inching us closer to a repeat of the past, will reunite this nation toward a common cause of grace, harmony and a prosperous, joyful future.
