At least three Yarmouth High School students were hospitalized for carbon monoxide exposure after air quality issues were reported at the school Monday.
Three students taken to a local hospital tested positive for some level of carbon monoxide poisoning, after students reported feeling sick Monday morning, WABI reported.
Local firefighters were called to the school to conduct air testing after some students reported feeling light-headed and unsafe.
An initial round of testing did not show any air contaminants. However, Yarmouth schools superintendent Andrew Dolloff made the decision to dismiss students early out of an abundance of caution.
At this time, there is no information on how students would have been exposed to carbon monoxide, or if the potential leak has been addressed.
Dolloff noted that the issue may have stemmed from the school’s heating system, which was rebooted on Monday. Further information was not available Monday evening.
