The Bangor Daily News review of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra concert of Nov. 17 confirmed the experience of the delighted audience. But almost the entire review focused on the wonderful performance of Tchaikovsky’s spectacular and difficult violin concerto. In fact, what followed, deserved equal attention and praise.
The final offering was Cesar Franck’s majestic Symphony No. 1 which may not have been familiar to everyone in the audience but left everyone standing and cheering. The symphony was taken at a quick pace and drew radiant playing from all sections, especially the brass. Two heavyweight pieces, played beautifully, deserved an equally balanced review. A terrific concert from start to finish.
