Three days after Maine’s first snow storm of the year, power has been restored across much of the state.
According to Versant Power, 300 residences within the power company’s service area were without power Sunday morning. That’s down from 962 outages reported on Saturday afternoon, and a drastic drop from the more than 5,000 outages reported Friday afternoon.
And in Central Maine Power’s service area, around 112 residences were without power Sunday morning.
That’s down from the more than 2,000 outages reported Sunday afternoon, and a sharp drop from the 14,000 outages reported Friday night.
So far, the weather outlook for the beginning of the week looks calm, with the earliest predicted snow hitting by midweek, according to National Weather Service forecasters. Wednesday snow is expected to turn into a mix of snow and rain on Thursday, at this point in time, which could leave Mainers under another layer of heavy snow.
The majority of outages from the Thanksgiving evening storm were caused by tree limbs weighted down by heavy, wet snow that took out power lines across the state.
