Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin turned daughter Apple’s Le Bal des Débutantes debut into a multigenerational family affair.
“A special long weekend in Paris ,” Paltrow, 52, wrote via Instagram early on Sunday, December 1, sharing snaps from the Parisian gala one night prior.
In one photo, Paltrow stunned in a black, polka-dot Valentino gown, which featured sheer sleeves and a mock turtleneck. She stood next to ex-husband Martin, 47, and their 18-year-old son, Moses, both of whom sported custom tuxedos by Valentino’s Alessandro Michele. The trio was joined by Paltrow’s mother, Blythe Danner, who wore a gray dress, rose-colored blazer and a strand of pearls.
Apple, 20, is a 2024 Le Bal class member, where she donned a custom blue Valentino gown with six dégradé tiers of silk plissé chiffon and cinched with a black bow. According to Vogue, the gown took brand creative director Michele, 52, more than 700 hours to make.

Danner, 81, also met actor Boris Kodjoe and designer David Netto, whose respective daughters Sophie and Madelyn made their Le Bal debuts alongside Apple.
Reese Witherspoon, whose daughter Ava was a Le Bal debutante in 2017, gave Paltrow’s post a subtle “like.”
Before the blended Danner-Paltrow-Martin brood hit up the famed Shangri-La Hotel, the Goop founder posed for a sweet mother-daughter selfie with Apple. The college student snapped the photo as she tried on her Valentino frock. Paltrow, for her part, wore a casual black dress for the fitting.
Elsewhere in Paltrow’s photo roundup, she shared glimpses at Martin and Moses bonding in a park before she and Danner took the teenager to an art gallery.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s Greatest Quotes About Parenting Her Kids
Paltrow and Martin famously “consciously uncoupled” in 2014 after a decade together, since remaining focused on amicably raising a blended family.
“Chris and I committed to putting them first and that’s harder than it looks because some days you really don’t want to be with the person that you are getting divorced from,” Paltrow said on The Drew Barrymore Show in September 2020. “But if you’re committed to having family dinner then you do it. You take a deep breath, and you look the person in the eye, and you remember your pact, and you smile, and you hug and you recommit to this new relationship that you are trying to foster.”
Paltrow is particularly close with both Apple and Moses, eventually finding it difficult when they left for college in 2022 and 2024, respectively. (Apple is a student at Vanderbilt University, while Moses is enrolled at Brown University.)
“It’s been a major transition. I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew it would be hard because Apple and I are so close and were together all the time,” Paltrow exclusively told Us Weekly in October 2022. “But I had no idea. It was like the worst heartbreak I’ve ever [felt]. I felt like the love of my life broke up with me for weeks. It was terrible.”
The Oscar winner added at the time, “Now, I’m getting more used to it and it also helps to see her happy and well-adjusted. That makes a huge difference. And she just came home for October break, so that was good.”
