FALMOUTH – OceanView at Falmouth is proud to announce a partnership with the Camden Conference, a forum for informed discourse on world issues. The 2025 Camden Conference “Democracy Under Threat: A Global Perspective” will be presented live at the Camden Opera House and livestreamed to Ocean View’s Lunt Auditorium Feb. 21-23, 2025.
“It is an honor to host this marquee event on our campus,” said Shireen Shahawy, director of sales and marketing for OceanView at Falmouth. “This is an incredible opportunity to bring together both our own residents, and Mainers from around the region, who have an interest in learning about foreign policy, world affairs, and participating in public discourse.”
The Camden Conference, founded in 1987, is a nonprofit, non-partisan, volunteer-driven citizens forum. Each February, the event reaches more than 1,000 people through live and streaming programming. This year’s Conference will also be livestreamed to the Strand Theatre in Rockland, and available for streaming to homes and classrooms worldwide.
“We’re excited about our partnership with OceanView at Falmouth,” said Wayne Hobson, president of the Camden Conference. “This helps us reach audiences that might not have had an opportunity to be part of the event.”
OceanView at Falmouth hosted a kickoff event for the conference with a live panel discussion at Lunt Auditorium on Nov. 20, called “Democracy Diminished: Is Local News Dying?” The panel featured Lisa DeSisto, CEO and publisher of the Maine Trust for Local News, Maine Monitor Executive Director Micaela Schweitzer-Bluhm, and Bangor Daily News Director of Development Jo Easton. The discussion was moderated by former Boston Globe editor Matt Storin.
Public ticket sales for the Camden Conference will begin Dec. 1. Learn more about The Camden Conference at www.camdenconference.org. The Lunt Auditorium is located at 74 Lunt Road in Falmouth on the campus of OceanView at Falmouth.
