Four people were arrested after an attempted robbery on Saturday, according to the Bangor Police Department.
After responding to what was initially reported as a noise complaint for a March Street residence early Saturday morning, police were met with an attempted robbery scene involving three men and one woman, according to police Sgt. Jason McAmbley.
When officers arrived and knocked, the door briefly opened and then abruptly closed, according to McAmbley. A man then exited the residence with his hands up, and told officers four other people were inside the residence.
The man then told the police that three people wearing masks and identifying themselves as law enforcement officials had entered the house. He also told police that he believed the woman he lived with was involved in the scheme.
Tanner Hartford, 45, of Pembroke; Shawn Stewart, 23, of Parkman; Alexander Mercado, 42, who did not provide a permanent address, and Jeyslin Terrero-Contreras, 21, of Oakland, California were taken into custody at the residence.
During a search of the house, officers discovered a number of hand guns, a pellet gun made to look like a hand gun, a police-style badge and clothing mimicking police uniforms.
All of the four people arrested Saturday were charged with attempted robbery, a Class C felony.
Hartford also faces charges of criminal threatening, possession of a firearm by a felon, violation of conditions of release and impersonating a public servant.
Stewart has been additionally charged with criminal threatening and possessing a firearm as a felon.
Mercado is accused of aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs, criminal threatening and possessing a firearm as a felon, in addition to the attempted robbery charge.
It was not immediately clear Monday afternoon when the four will make court appearances.
