Urban Pizza in Bangor will be closing its doors on Saturday.
The pizzeria at 329 Main St. in Bangor, next to Dunkin’ Donuts, opened on Dec. 4, 2023, seven years after its owner announced the plan for the establishment.
Owner Matt Haskell said in a Wednesday Facebook post that the restaurant would be closing “for a few months,” and that it would be undergoing changes.
“We are staying here, we’re not going anywhere, we’re just going to revamp the concept, make some minor yet fairly significant changes to our service approach, to the food that we offer, and somewhat to the interior of the space as well.”
Haskell, who is from Bangor, owns Blaze at 18 Broad St. He also has locations in Bar Harbor, Biddeford, Blue Hill, Camden and Dover-Foxcroft, where there is a fermentation facility.
Haskell plans to reopen the establishment under a new name, according to his post. He also noted that the restaurant may reopen in a different location, although where that location would be was not disclosed Wednesday.
Urban Pizza offered a variety of pies, as well as Pugnut’s Ice Cream.
Gift cards will be honored through the rest of the week, and Haskell noted that the new establishment would honor gift cards when it opens.
There is no set reopening date at this time.
