Justin Hartley‘s hit CBS series Tracker has left a lot of questions unanswered before wrapping up season 2 in early 2025.
During the season 2 premiere, which aired in October, Colter (Hartley) reflected on the only case he hasn’t been able to solve. Colter found himself reconnecting with Camille (Floriana Lima) on the anniversary of her sister’s disappearance. At the time, there wasn’t much information about what caused Colter’s investigation to stall but new episodes slowly hinted at revelations still yet to be fully uncovered.
“When [Gina disappears], Colter makes a promise to Cammile — and I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but he never promises [his clients] anymore. He says, ‘I will bring her home … I will bring him home,’” Hartley noted to TVLine that month. “He says, ‘I am going to do my best … to try.’ This is why.”
Hartley teased how digging into Colter’s past with Camille will unlock more details, adding, “[This story line] has been built in a way that, when you look at it, you go, ‘Oh man, that was a pivotal moment in Colter’s life that changed the way he approaches his work and his relationships with other people.’”
‘Tracker’ Season 2 Trailer Shows Justin Hartley, Wife Sofia Pernas’ Reunion
Colter’s white whale case isn’t the only story viewers want more answers about before the second season comes to an end. Some are still waiting for details on when Hartley’s real-life wife (and onscreen love interest) Sofia Pernas will reprise the role of Billie. Meanwhile, others are wondering who actually caused the death of Colter’s father.
After an 11-week hiatus, season 2 of Tracker will resume on February 16, 2025. Keep scrolling for the top questions Us needs answered before a potential third season:
Is Camille’s Sister Gina Still Alive?
During the season 2 fall finale, which aired in December, Colter made progress in the cold case when a former associate of Frank Whales revealed what he knew about Gina’s disappearance.
“We got into something. Wasn’t our fault, heavy stuff — we didn’t have a choice,” the unnamed man said about working for someone called Teacher. “[He] knew things about us. Bad stuff. Held it over our heads. Even the others. He kept a long line of pretty boys to do his bidding.”
Teacher made Whales lure Gina to a place called The Farm. “He said he planted things there,” the associate added before Colter asked if Gina was still alive. The episode cut to black before a “To be continued” message appeared on screen.
Even though Camille has given up the search for her sister, something tells Us this new information will make her change her mind. The show has hinted that Colter will get answers about Gina but hopefully it will get wrapped up in the next half of season 2 instead of bleeding over into future seasons.
Will Billie Be Back?
Pernas returned earlier in season 2 when Colter teamed up with Billie to solve a case in her hometown. By the end of the day, they were reflecting on their childhood trauma.
“They have a nice scene where she really does open up to him,” Hartley told TVLine during a joint interview with Pernas in October. “The way that you played it was beautiful. Your performance suggests that you’ve never shared [this information] with anyone, ever.”
Fans, however, wanted even more of Hartley and Pernas together on screen. Luckily, they won’t have to wait too long since Hartley has made it clear that Pernas is set to return even more from here.
“She’s definitely coming back. We have some pretty cool stuff for her to do next year,” Hartley told Deadline in May. “She’ll be back several times next year. We built this really great group of actors [who are] hopefully more than willing to come back, because we’d love to play more with them. We have a bunch of stories to tell with all [of them].”

Who Killed Colter’s Dad?
When Colter’s brother Russell (Jensen Ackles) was introduced in season 1, he was the No. 1 suspect in their father’s death. Russell denied the claim — which originated from their mother — and instead revealed there was someone else in the woods the night their father was found dead at the bottom of a cliff.
Colter got more information about his dad’s mysterious murder from his childhood friend Lizzie (Jennifer Morrison) when she confirmed that her mother had an affair with Colter’s dad. Furthermore, their parents had a fight before his death and Lizzie later found a box her mother hid that was full of work from Colter’s dad. Lizzie told Colter she gave the items to his sister, Dory (Melissa Roxburgh), who never mentioned anything to him.
All these various storylines have been largely unaddressed in season 2 so far. That means Tracker could bring back Ackles, Roxburgh and Morrison to at least tease what Colter’s dad — and his distrust of the government — meant in terms of his subsequent death.
Is Teddi Never Coming Back?
The season 2 premiere mentioned that Velma (Abby McEnany) needed some distance between her and her wife, Teddi (Robin Weigert), which is why she is spending more time helping Reenie (Fiona Rene). The narrative decision came as a result of Weigert not returning as a series regular after appearing on the show consistently throughout the first season.
There hasn’t been an official announcement on Teddi’s future on the show — and Us would like one.

Has Reenie Moved on From Colter — And Russell — Completely or Is There Hope?
Rene exclusively told Us Weekly about how Reenie’s personal life will evolve after she introduced a new man to Colter — and Us — in season 2.
“I think deep down Colter loves Reenie. I really would like to think that he has unconditional love for her,” Rene shared in November about what the future holds for Reenie and Colter. “He really wants what’s best for Reenie and he wants to see her happy. I think Elliot at that moment is really making her happy. So I think it’s undeniable for Colter to feel that too. But does that mean that he is over it?”
Rene didn’t completely confirm or deny whether Reenie was over the Shaw siblings. (Russell has discussed his interest in Reenie as well.)
“Reenie loves some of that attention. Who doesn’t love a little bit of validation here and there? We’re all human,” Rene quipped to Us at the time. “But I think Reenie is looking for the caliber of man who can be emotionally, physically and mentally available. [Someone] in the same state who she doesn’t have to track down every single time she wants to talk to him. I think that that’s pretty pertinent.”
She continued: “[She wants] to have someone who is willing to put her as a priority — and that’s hard. For Russell and Colter, I don’t know if Reenie trusts that either of them are capable of doing all of those things. [They should] prove me wrong.”
While Tracker loves to keep Us guessing, it would be great to get an idea of whether there’s still hope for Reenie and Colter before season 2 wraps up.
