A portion of Main Street in downtown Bangor was reopened Monday afternoon after firefighters responded to a fire alarm in an apartment at 35 Main St.
First responders addressed a stove fire that set off the fire alarm in an apartment on the fourth floor of the building, according to Jeremy Ogden, a division chief for the Bangor Fire Department. The building also houses the Salty Brick Market.
Although the fire was quickly extinguished, Ogden said firefighters needed to clean up the water.
Crews closed Main Street from where the road intersects with Broad and Middle and Water streets around 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The road was reopened by 3:40 p.m.
