ELLSWORTH — Downtown Ellsworth is gearing up for an inspiring weekend of creativity from Dec. 19-21, with a variety of markets and events happening at multiple locations. Local nonprofits Artsworth, Heart of Ellsworth, and Woodlawn are excited to collaborate in promoting these engaging activities.
The festivities begin on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 16 State Street, where Heart of Ellsworth will host a Holiday Marketplace featuring local artisans and businesses. Sponsored by First National Bank, the market will be open from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
On Saturday, Dec. 21 Artsworth and Atlantic Art Glass invite the community to their annual Firegathering Celebration, coinciding with the winter solstice. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be followed by a solstice party with live music starting at 5 p.m. Attendees can enjoy fine art, engage in hands-on art-making activities, and connect with local artisans and craftspeople.
Woodlawn will also host events on Saturday, starting with a Craft & Farmers’ Market in The Barn from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring local farmers and artisans. After dark, Woodlawn invites visitors to experience their illuminated story trail loop, transformed into a festive walk-through holiday light trail. The light trail will be open for its final weekend from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening, with a special appearance by Santa on Saturday the 21st from 5-7 p.m.. The Holiday Light Trail at Woodlawn has a suggested donation of $10 per family and is sponsored by First National Bank, Maine Community Foundation, Wallace Events, and SVB Private.
“We’re excited to collaborate with other nonprofits and cross promote these events – showcasing the great work and resources each organization offers to our community,” says Evan Moats, executive director of Woodlawn.
