Melissa Gorga can officially add cookie connoisseur to her resume, now that she’s launched the her very own sprinkle cookie company, Sprinkle by MG.
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Gorga, 45, dished on what inspired her to embark on this new venture. “Everyone knows sprinkle cookies are my absolute favorite,” the Bravo star, 45, told Us. “We had that iconic scene [on The Real Housewives of New Jersey] and I’ve always wanted to come out with my own — it’s been a long time coming.”
As loyal RHONJ fans know, Gorga’s preference for the Italian sweets were brought to light during season 3, when Gorga’s sister-in-law, Teresa Giudice, recalled throwing away a box of sprinkle cookies that a then-pregnant Gorga brought to her home on Christmas Eve. (The incident, which inspired a TikTok sound, was just one of many that contributed to their ongoing issues.)
Since then, “Everywhere I go, people give me sprinkle cookies, [whether] it was at book signings or when they come to Envy,” Gorga continued. “When we go to Dolores’ [Catania’s Battle for Brooklyn’ baseball] games, everyone holds up ‘Team Sprinkle’ [signs].”
Gorga spent nearly two years searching for the right baker to team up with in order to create the best product possible. “It was all about having an amazing tasting cookie that will make people [say], ‘That was the best butter cookie I’ve ever had, and I’m going to get it again,’” she explained. “So, there’s been a lot of work, and back and forth, [to] creating the perfect cookie — and we definitely have it now.”
Biggest ‘Real Housewives’ Feuds Ever — And Where the Relationships Stand Today
According to the reality star, she’s got big plans to expand — “I’m looking into [creating] a sprinkle cake and possibly a sprinkle cookie crumb cake” — and customers will be able to customize orders, too: “We’re going to have a variety of colors, so if you want to bring the sprinkle cookies to a baby shower, there will be pink and blue [options].”
Melissa’s husband, Joe Gorga, has already given his seal of approval. “Obviously he’s been eating Italian pastries his whole life, so he’s picky,” the mom of three told Us of Joe, 50, with whom she shares Antonia, 18, Gino, 16, and Joey, 13. “He loves them and is also [asking], ‘What took you so long?’”
With RHONJ currently on hiatus, Melissa is keeping busy, hosting the “On Display” podcast and running both Envy locations in Ridgewood, New Jersey, and Huntington, New York. She’s also in the midst of planning the festivities for her annual Christmas Eve party. “It’s a big deal for me,” she shared. “Last year, I had Christmas carolers come to the door. I have Santa show up with presents for all the little kids — I go above and beyond.”
Former ‘RHONJ’ Stars: Where Are They Now?
Sharing her beloved sprinkle cookies with both her family and fans just in time for the holiday season is just another reason for Melissa to celebrate. “I’m excited for everyone to be able to bring these to Christmas Eve and parties and share my sprinkle cookies,” the Love Italian Style author added. “To me, it’s magical — it’s a dream.”
